Why Used Auto Parts Are Better Than New Auto Parts
For the last 60 years auto recyclers, otherwise known as auto wreckers or auto dismantlers with their junkyards and salvage yards, have played an important role in the economy and environment. More and more car owners are turning to used auto parts rather than new car parts for their car maintenance and repair needs, for several reasons:
· Purchasing used auto parts instead of new car parts allows you to save money by about 55% on average.
· Purchasing used car parts means that you have a wider selection in the used parts market from which to pick the right car part that specifically meets the fit, functionality and quality requirement of your current car and car parts.
· By purchasing used auto parts you are helping to lessen the pollution to the environment. Automotive recycling plays an important role in conserving natural resources and minimizing the demand on scarce landfill space. Other then lessening the negative impact on natural resources, Automotive recycling plays a major role in reducing water pollution, air pollution and solid waste generation.
Guide to Buying Used Auto Parts from Auto Recyclers
Keeping your car roadworthy can be a very expensive undertaking these days, especially with today’s tough economic climate making it more difficult for many people to earn and save money. But by using used auto parts, not only can you save money, you can also help conserve natural resources, and still get the correct specified parts for your car. For these reason, thousands of people every year elect to purchase used car parts.
With this increase in demand, the internet has become an ideal vehicle in bringing the buyers and sellers of used auto parts together. Before you make your used car parts purchase online, here is a general guide to assist you in choosing the right auto parts at the best price.
· Whenever you purchase a car part, make sure you have your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) handy. This number can provide the seller with a lot of information about your car, including the year, make and model. Having your VIN available is especially important when purchasing drive train components such as engines and transmissions.
· Make sure the company from which you are buying the auto part offers a warranty on the part. Make sure you read and understand the terms of that warranty before making the purchase.
· Find out how many miles are on the auto part, and find out whether the part is being sold as used, rebuilt or remanufactured.

Recycled Auto Question
what happens if one puts non-recyclable item in a recycle bin? or black plastic in a no-black-plastic bin?
I am just curious to see how recyclable material gets from a dirty receptacle all the way to new item. is there any common thing that people do that causes a set of recyclable materials to be non viable? For example, does throwing glass in a plastics bin ruin the whole bin? My bin at home says “no black plastics or film plastics.” What if I inadvertently put those in? What if i throw a paper bag full of cans into a recycle bin? Can we auto-sort or auto-purify recycled content?
It gets sorted out. But that doesn’t mean it is OK to do it intentionally. One person doing it won’t cause any damage, but if one person does it, then 100 people, then 1000 people, the cost of sorting it out will go up. Then you get the snowball effect. It cost more to process it, then (if the city doesn’t charge already), you start getting charged to recycle, and the charge keeps go up and up until it gets to a point that nobody wants to recycle anymore because it costs too much in their pocketbook. There are machines that can sort it all out automatically, but they cost money. With the budgets that most communities have to operate on, they just can’t afford to purchase a good machine to do this.
I know all about the arguement that the environment is more important, and should be saved at whatever cost. This is fine when the government pays for it (which really comes out of your paycheck, but you don’t see it go for this directly), but when you have to write the check for it yourself, most people will rethink their position on that. Especially someone on a tight budget already.
HOW MANY QUARTS TO FILL A TRANNY AFTER A FILTER CHANGE?
I have a 1989 GMC S15 with TH350 Auto trans. after several attempts to stop the leaks after my filter change I have been recycling the fluid but I have lost some in the process. I’m just going to buy new fluid. How many quarts does it take ? I’ve been told 5 and then 7. How many does it take car dudes and dudettes.
I was also under the impression that you check the level of fluid with the trans in drive, and an assistant with a foot on the break, my dipstick states ” check in park with tranny hot” what’s the rule to this ?
Yes it actually is a THM700 I was under the impression they were the same as far as the fluids. my bad
Are you sure you have a THM350. I don’t see that listed as being put in that vehicle. You have either a THM180C or a THM700. Give me the exact make/model engine size. I have checked all three different motors and trans that they list for this truck and i don’t come up with a 350 unless someone changed the trans. But i can tell you the THM700 is most common which takes 5 quarts with the filter change. As a rule of thumb though i would add 5 quarts start it up go thru all the gears PRND21 then back to park let it get to operating temp and recheck. Then i would drive it and then recheck it after the drive. Good Luck!

Auto Parts Will Become The Development Trend Of Green Manufacturing Design
Of modern product development process must take into account the entire product life cycle design, conduct full-life cycle management of. Total Life-cycle management must consider not only the first half-products: feasibility studies, design, manufacture, but also to consider the product, after half a lifetime: the use, maintenance up to withdraw from active service and waste management.
Foreign automobile manufacturers have formed a green sizeable industry. The U.S. Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) has hosted a “life-cycle management” and “re-create” the theme of academic meetings. The major car companies also attaches great importance to the recovery of vehicles and manufacturing. The country has many units are being re-manufacturing research in the field, it is still in its infancy.
Traditional design and green design comparison
Traditional design is green design. Green design is the development of traditional design to supplement and complete. Only in the use of traditional design based on the design goals of environmental properties of the product design but also as one of the goals in order to make products designed to meet the performance requirements of green, with market competitiveness. Both in the design basis, design, design process, designed in such aspects as there is a big difference in comparison between the two, as shown in Table 1. The traditional manufacturing model of the product life cycle.
Green Manufacturing Engineering in Automobile Industry
Automotive Manufacturing Engineering Green then be able to make technological transformation of automotive products, and to differentiate between the parts as scrap or as a re-manufacturing of recycled materials, rough, while the use of advanced surface engineering technology or rapid prototyping technology make it back to life, get more high-performance car and then manufactured products, automotive products, it is the second investment is an important measure for the appreciation of automobile products.
The traditional life cycle of a car
The traditional life cycle of a car is a demonstration, design, manufacture, use, into the retirement date, its logistics is an open-loop system. The 2l century, the green car’s entire life cycle “from development to regeneration”, namely the use of vehicles passed after the end of life recycling renewable or manufactured to be transformed so that the life of scrap vehicles multiplied extended its logistics is a closed-loop system.
Engine costs account for an important part of the total cost of vehicle, its implementation remanufacturing has important practical value. Remanufactured engines are not a simple repair on the old engine, but the old engine rigorous testing and re-manufacturing. Remanufactured engine is currently the main buyer focused on the private car owners, taxi drivers, small business owners, etc., for the price sensitive user groups. Shanghai Volkswagen’s special service stations, through the National Recovery can be used to re-create the old engine, remanufactured engine products also flows through special maintenance station users, relying on a strong network of service stations special support for the maintenance of professional and high quality services, so that in the Manufacturing engine users to establish a good image.
The automotive product life cycle model of recycling
Auto parts recycling typically include: (1) direct use; (2) maintenance after use; (3) three forms of re-manufacturing. In accordance with spare parts in the product life cycle, the cycle can be established for the product life cycle, recycling model.
Recycling-oriented design methods
Recyclable product design is in the product design stage to fully consider the possibility of parts and materials recovery, recycling value of the size, recovery and treatment methods, such as recycling and recovery of structure and technology of a range of issues related to the final part material resources to achieve optimum utilization of and energy loss of the smallest, and environmental pollution, the smallest of a design idea and method.
Detachable design for recycling is an important design methods. It requires the design in the product structure, change the traditional connection methods and replace them with easily removable connection mode. Removable structural design, there are two types: one is based on the maturity structure of connection methods, such as bolt connections, key links and the interference fit, etc.; the other is the purpose of computer-based design methods.
Design method for disassembly
The design for disassembly is one of the main elements of green design, requiring the initial stages of product design for disassembly will be one of the objectives of structural design as shown in Figure 6.
In short, recycling and product-oriented design is not a removable product assembly design of a simple reversible process, should gradually establish a suitable CAD / CAM and DFD of a unified information model, and to enable them to automatically generate parts of the assembly, disassembly, etc. optimal sequence, in order to facilitate concurrent product-oriented, integrated life-cycle-oriented design.
Green manufacturing engineering is a kind of ecological and economic needs to adapt to the recycling of the form of green manufacturing engineering to introduce a vehicle to solve the problem of waste vehicle caused an important means of social pollution, their considerable part of the waste by re-manufacturing components can be reused later; while The other – some waste material in the form of components Zeyi comprehensive recycling. Green cars re-manufacturing engineering for resource conservation and environmental protection, promoting social, economic and environmental development is very important and long-term practical significance.
